I wasnt sure what thread to post this in but I decided this would probably work. Anyway when I try to get my roadrunner email on my iphone it always says username or password is incorrect. Heres a few of things ive tried.
1. Different hostnames for my POP3 server (pop-server.roadrunner.com, pop-server.nycap.rr.com etc.)
2. Different server ports
3. Many many many different passwords
4. Many many different usernames, I then later looked it up what the username is supposed to be, and it is your full email which I had correct.)

Heres an important part. The password I thought was correct that I tried many times was correct. I went onto roadrunners site (aka time warner cable) and signed in with the username and password that I had typed in on my phone. I logged in. It was correct. I then found out looking at other threads on other forums that some guy even talked to a guy at verizon and he was telling people that if they were planning to set up an email on their phone that it wasnt roadrunner cause apparently the iphones can never recognize their servers..... Greeeaaat... Wondering if there is any help here?

I can't believe it's this difficult for you to set up a simple POP3 email account on an iPhone. I don't even own an iPhone but if you have some way to do remote access on it, I'll do it for you.

if it were me, i'd just forward to a gmail account and setup from there gmail.

Pop3 from your ISP email? Yeah, forward to gmail and utilize gmail imap.

The incoming server would depend on your email's domain. It should follow pop-server.(email domain). So if you email is @roadrunner.com it would be pop-server.roadrunner.com.

The ougoing server is a bit different. You can use mobile-smtp.roadrunner.com and port 587, or port 25 (with outgoing authentication). I have my iPhone set on port 587. Use SSL should be off. Outgoing username should be youe full email address and the password is the same as your incoming password. You can try with or without authentication, to see what works. If you still have problems, email us a twcable.help@twcable.com

Are you doing this on your home wifi network?

Everyone I know with TW RR, they restrict pop3 access from outside their network. If its the same deal where you're at, it likely won't work unless you're connected to a RR connection.

It's not that difficult. It's pretty straightforward.

TWs pop3 settings:

pop-server.nyc.rr.com

mobile-smtp.roadrunner.com

The pop setting is for NYC, I dont know where you are from but you may have to change it,

Well thats what im kind of confused about because some people are saying that some arent. But that might be the case for me cause I did try all the different servers and all the suggestions so far...
Edit: actually just realized something. You said connected to your home network... Yes I am, which is under time warner. So even connected to the home network I cant get it...

This was the case for me when I had an iPhone a couple years ago. I could receive, just couldn't send.

In that case it just has to be something with your server settings. Something's not quite right. Is there an Outlook setup document for your area's pop3 access?
