I'm putting together an older system that has a serial mouse connector. I bought a serial adapter for use with my ps2 mouse. It doesn't work. I've tried 3 different adapters and 3 different mice, 1 generic, 1 logitech and 1 microsoft. I must be doing something wrong. I tried the mice and adapters in a COM port in anothe system as well, didn't work there either. any ideas? thanks all

I hope this doesn't confuse you. I had this problem a long time ago. Try disabling the COM port in BIOS setup and see if that fixes it.

How old is your system? On older DOS machines with a serial port mouse, you had to have mouse drivers (I'm showing my age here). I had a 286 MoBo which I upgraded to a 386, and with DOS 3.3 (I think) I had to use the mouse drivers before it was recognized. They used to be available on the MS site.

well, i'm thinking it may be the mice don't like the adapter. i'm going to get a serial mouse and see if that works. the system isnt too old, it's a K6 mobo.
