Can't get over 150 blck on x58-ud3r and L5639 OC

OK, I got one of the L5639 hex cores for $110, but I can't get over 150 blck ? its not vcore, I kept going up, and it will post at 166, but not even come close to booting. I am sure its something other than vcore, but its been ages since I tried overclocking this motherboard

temps at 1.275 vcore and 150 at like 49c at 100% load, and very stable, but won't even boot at 155

Any ideas ?

These are my settings:

CPU Voltage: 1.30
CPU PLL: 1.90
QPI/DRAM: 1.30
IOH Voltage: 1.30
RAM: 1.66

Mark, I wish I could help you; I didn't have to do anything to mine to hit the BCLKs I am. It might make a difference that this is a new revision of this motherboard.

Does the dual QPI Links effect the blck.
You need to ask aigomorla cause aigo is one of the few people that knows.

What motherboard is this on ?

and my ram is 1.5, so I can't change that, running my memory at 1240, but its rated as 1600.

and aigomorla is a guy (pretty sure)

Yeah sorry that would be helpful. It's an ASUS P6T.

I have Corsair XMS2 DDR3 1600. That voltage is set automatically when I load the XMP profile.

Edit:

Also my DRAM is set at 1603MHz
UCLK (Uncore) at 3208MHz
QPI Link at 7218MT/s (The lowest setting I can choose)

Have you tried setting your mem multipler to 8x and your uncore clock ratio to x12. I couldn't get above 170 or so before doing that on my ud3-r.

I have the same 1366 mb which has the worst vdroop ever seen.
Bclk 200-204
pci-e 101
qpi 7.2
cpu offset + 0.30v
ioh auto
ich auto
ioh csi 1.34v*
*only asrock has this early Common Systems Interconnect (CSI)
vtt 1.27v for normal 3600MHz UCLK or vtt of 1.41 for 4400MHz UCLK.
Cpu pll 1.90v
dram 1.489v
C1 enabled
speedsteep off
C state off
Two fans to cool the PWMs + fan on nb.
My extreme was used for 3 years at 4200MHz with above setting.

lol my ear itches... someone talking about me?

Mark... u might of hit a wall... remember how the C2Q's were?

Did u try skipping 160->180 entirely? and shoot for 190->200?

Also make sure u lower your uclk if possible, you dont want to exceed 2800.
QPI link helps with latency.. but at the cost of too much stability.

Lastly... if i recall mem speed and uclk had to be in a ratio...
UCLK => greater than 1.5x Mem Speed

What motherboard can you guys recommend?

The $25 dual socket HP motherboard is not clockable 🙁

I need solid - I would even disable cores (down to 2) to keep turbo on always. don't care about HT.

So couple of approaches but i'd like to spend less than $100

I had similar issue. I fixed it by manually setting memory speed to 9-9-9-24 instead of auto.

OK, after following all of these suggestions, I am at 3420 (190x18) and lets see how long it stays stable.

The memory was defaulting to 7,7,7,20, thats not good, since its rated at 9,9,9,24. The vcore and other voltage I did, and adjusted uncore is like 2680, and memory at 5120. It took 3 boots to boot, but stayed up for at least 2 minutes at full load before I posted.

I had the latest bios.

Thanks all, even if its not totally stable yet !

If your board has a QPI setting make sure it's at 4.8, not 5.8. Mine runs all day on 4.8, won't even post at 5.8
