hi,

i cant get NFS Porsche Unleashed to work under XP or under 98.

Under both OS i installed NFS from the original CD, and everytime i want to start the game it comes up with that small intro screen, CD access happens and then nothing...CD light is on and the program is frozen.

I have the original NFS Porsche CD and i have this problem under XP and 98.

HELP !

Config:

XPO Pro/98 SE
Radeon 8500 retail, recent drivers
384MB ram

I'd also highly appreciate someone giving me a link to a NOCD-patch (or email) since i think the dumb copy protection (safedisc) could have to do something with it ! NO, i do not want to promote "crackz" i just want that d*mn game working !!!!!

greetings !

these are the things you might wanna try:

1) make sure you had all the windows updates installed
2) set the size of your windows swap file/virtual memory to 256mb or less

nfs5 works fine on my winxp.. i didn't use nocd patch.. my system has 512mb ram and 20mb of virtual memory..

Just installed NFSPU on WinXP Pro 2 days ago.

Works great.

You need to do FULL Install
You need to be updated to version 3.5

I also have the no-cd crack.
(I know what ya mean, its hard to get)

I have the v3.5 & no-cd crack all in 1 patch.
Its 4.16mb, if ya want it , email me.

be advised, you cant race online with the no-cd crack installed.
Im not using it, just the v3.5 update.

Oh, and ya can look HERE for more help if ya need it.

Make sure you have the compatabilty update installed from WinXp updates page, it "may" be your problem.

Others here, say to RENAME the gimme.dll file & run the game in Win98 compatability mode.

Also, ive read if your swapfile is greater than 400mb , the game will crash on some systems.

Im not experiencing any of these problems.

Im assuming it may be because I have WinXp SP1 & all updates installed.
