can't get my scanner to install

I have a Visioneer OneTouch 8100 scanner that I'm trying to install. When I plug in the scanner and try to install the drivers, the drive installation wizard won't copy the files. I'll point it to "C:\winnt\inf\i386", which contains the file that it's looking for, but the dialogue window will just pop back with "\C:\winnt\inf\i386" as if it didn't find the file. I've tried copying the file to another folder and pointer the wizard to the new folder but it still returns to "\C:\winnt\inf\i386". I've installed this scanner before without problems. What's going on?

have you tried pointing it to your scanner drivers folder? sometimes it looks like it wants an NT file, but the file is really on the scanner cd. just a thought. windows drivers can be super picky

i'm not referring to installing from the win2k database. i'm just saying that if the file is in inf/i386 then it's probably on the win2k cd, and you should tell windows to look there.

Ok. I tried the CD and they weren't on there. I switched the scanner onto my parallel port and now it works fine. Thanks.
