I recently bought a raid setup which consists of:

modded promise 66 card
(2) IBM 75series 15gig, 7200rpm drive

here is my problem, when I put the promise card in my pc, it never goes into the promise bios, nor does it give me the option to go into it, what am I doing wrong?

my setup:

celeron 633@979
abit be6-2
128meg micron
visiontek geforce ddr
pioneer 10x/40x slotload dvd drive IDE
S&F 4x4x24 CDRW drive IDE
aureal 2.0 sound
56k
10/100

please help me out!

thanks
Jason

Make sure you have the IDE controller that you aren't using disabled, and also make sure the onboard Ultra ATA66 controller is disabled from within the bios. Check the boot device sequence, and make sure that SCSI is set before HDD-0.

Hey sorry Jason I totally forgot all about you anyways. That's pretty good advice from Engineer9. And is the S&F burner SCSI or IDE? Why don't you try it and see how it works. In the mean time here's a bump for you.

I am using both onboard controllers and the udma 66 is disabled

no problem paldo, using a single ibm drive right now and I like it!

any other advice?

Put the card in the system but don't hook up any drives to it, see if Windows detects it. If it doesn't, you either have an IRQ conflict, or the card is fried.

Put the card in the PCI slot closes to the AGP slot (the first PCI slot). That way it will get detected first. That usually helps in one way or another.

One thing though Overclock. Did you install the ribbon cable correctly? I mean (blue goes the controller, and the other end of the controller where it label Master and Slave on the ribbon. Don't forget cuz one I made a mistake once of connecting the Slave connector to the drive. So the Promise controller couldn't detect the drives correctly. Here's another bump someone please help out Overclock.

Has the modded card ever worked? Can you try it in another system?

I'm suspecting that the modification has been done improperly. Did you perform the modification? If so, please review the mod steps in order. It should be easy to correct. Good luck.
