Can't get my network set up correctly

Just got a new computer that will be networked with my wife's and they will share an internet connection. During the installation of the new computer's NIC, several Win98SE files became corrupted. They are:
vnetsup.vxd
vredir.vxd
dfs.vxd
and msnp32.dll
Any ideas on how to repair/reinstall these four files? I have never used SFC (system file checker) function in Win98 before, but I read this is the way to go.

Apparently, since I don't knoiw the exact path to the files on the WIN98 installation disc, SFC can't find them. One would think Mr. Gates could build a product that could find its own files without me telling them where they should be.

Poor Mr. Gates has to take the blame every time we make a mistake.

First try to Uninstall your Network setting, and ReInstall it.

If it does not help and files are still missing.

Put you original Win98 CD; reinstall Windows on top of the existing setup.

This process will refresh the Missing files, without changing your current setting.

no no no...I had this same error with the same files missing. I took me weeks to figure it out. This is all you have to do.

Start>Settings>Control Panel> Add remove programs> Windows Setup> Uncheck Communications and let Windows unistall communications.. Reboot then go back and install Communications. Something corrupted durning the install. This fixes the problem...
