cant get my modem to work under LINUX ...where to find if modem is supported?

It finds the modem when running the check for new hardware while booting, and i select "configure", but it does not appear in the hardware list when its booted...also when i try to set up my network account it says no modem found....

where can i find if it is a supported modem...?
im using redhat 7.3

I know the Lucent LTWinmodem has Linux drivers.
