If I remember correctly, you have to configure the drive from within the actual Iomega backup software - you tell it how it is connected and it tries to run the configuration afterwards. There is also a parallel port software configuration - it has been about 2 years since I had to work with one of these.

I hope this helps

In the help file it says to click add in the configuration thingy, but there is no add option at all. Any ideas?

Under SCSI devices, you have to add the Iomega Parallel Port Device for it to work. It should have been added to the list when you installed the software for the tape device. You should then be able configure the Iomega tape device.

A good cup of coffee and the memory starts to comeback. :p

Well it's not there, how do I add it? I went to have disk, but I can't find any inf files that contain the right information. Thanks for your help.

If you installed the correct software, you should be able to point it to the directory that the Iomega software was installed to. It is something like Iomega Parallel Port SCSI device that will get installed. Works for Iomega Zip and Bernoulli drives also.

I worked in a Lab that had 6 of these units running under NT - they worked great.

Where do I go to install this Iomega Parallel Port SCSI device? If I go into control panel and then SCSI Adapters and click browse to add a device and I point the file to it in the Iomega directory (it's there) and it says the file does not contain the right information.

What software did you use to install the Ditto tools?

You should be using the following from the Iomega site:

Ditto98.exe

not Ditwintools.exe

Hmmmm...

Did you check under your SCSI/Iomega to see if Parallel Port device has been added to the list?

Where would that be? In control panel, "SCSI Adapters"? There is only my CD-Rom and Hard drive there.

Ok it's not show there, if I go to add and point out the INF file in the directory where Iomega backup software is located it says it doesn't contain the right information.

I have to get back to you regarding this one.

It should not be this difficult :D

One more thing - do you have a parallel port device test under Iomega? It would be a checkered flag - also have you checked out the readme that comes with the Iomega install? You may have to right click the Iomega .inf file to install it, but you shouldn't be having this problem to at least get the Parallel Port installed.

I can't find a checkered flag, and of course I read the readme file :)

I can't get the drive to work in win2k either.

Edit: When I install the Ditto98.exe it doesn't even add a program group in start menu :( I have to go to my computer, program file, iomega.... to get the program file.

I also had no success with this drive in NT4, good thing I got it cheap. Iomega claims the parallel drive is not supported in NT, havent tried W2K though. Works fine w/Win9X.
