Can't get my HDD to format

I have an old 12 gig HDD that I wanted to reformat, and when I format it it goes all the way through and says:

format complete
Unable to write BOOT
Format failed

Does any one know whats going on?

I may be way off the mark here but did you format c: or did you format c: /s ?

If it was the latter, maybe you could format c: and when it is finished you could just copy the system files.

Just a thought.

Try doing an FDISK, erasing all partition information, creating a new primary partition and doing a Full Format again.
