Can't get my DVD drive to run in DMA mode, help

This isn't really causing problems, it's just when i copy files off a cd, i cna't do anything else. My whole system gets bogged down. Anyways, I have an Aopen 12x DVD on adn Epox 8KHA+ mobo, running winxp pro. I selected DMA if available for the device, and my cd burner is running in DMA, but this is not. I know it has run it in the past, but now it will only stay in pio mode. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Played around in the bios to try to find something to fix it, but theres nothing that will force it to try and run DMA. Could it be a bad cable, or bad drive?

You might try uninstall the device in "device manager" - that will let windows auto-detect it upon next boot... has fixed my PIO mode ZIP drive problem(s) in Win2k.
