had a 800tird in it running fine picked up a 1ghz(200 fsb) to replace it and after getting it in and booting it it locks before windows(xp) loads..reset the chip( using radio shack grease) and hsf (taisol cek 733092 or 734092) and same thing. after a couple of resets i was able to get past the boot screen but recieved a windows error. that was the farthest i could get. fic's web site states that i should be able to run a 1.1 so i dont believe i need a bios update and the voltage is regulated by the mb so i cant do anything with that. using a 250 watt power supply..problem? anyways any help would be appreciated! thanks

Is it a quality 250Watt psu? What devices do you have installed in your machine?
I would check all of your settings and try it again or check out this 1Ghz cpu in another machine to make sure it's working right.
Replace your 800Mhz and see if that still works in the config you have, if so, then it might be the new cpu or it just might be your settings.
Best of luck.

Try running it underclocked, ie: run the 1Ghz at 800 and see if it boots. Then move it up in 50, 66 or 100MHz increments.

not sure of the power supply manufacturer..will need to check when i get home. i have a radeon leclocked at retail with fan, ethernet card for roadrunner, 56k modem(which will be the first thing gone), pci to usb adapter card, and an ess sound card.

already replaced the 1ghz with the 800 immediatly after and it had no problems posting

the 1ghz is new so i dont have any reason to believe its the chip (oem bought here on the boards).

only way i now how to reduce the frontside bus on this board is thru a software utility provided by fic...i suppose i could load it with my 800 reduce the fsb replace the cpu with the 1 ghz and boot and see what happens

flash the bios...not needed as far as i can see. latest version is a yr old and the description of it doesnt sound like i need it...also dont need another problem on my hands if i f*** it up!!

as far as my settings i really dont have anything o/ced or treaked (not to much you can do to this motherboard) cept the vidcard.
