Quite frustrating...
I'm doing everything I can think of, but for some reason the maximum resolution my computer is willing to display the monitor at is 1280x1024. Running an HD 4870 with latest drivers from ATI, Vista 64, and a DVI connection.
My main monitor is an Acer p243w which happily and instantly displays 1920x1200 via DVI.
My secondary monitor, a Samsung 205bw, won't show any resolutions above 1280x1024 (should be 1680x1050 native)
I've unclicked the 'hide resolutions' box, I've messed with monitor drivers until both monitors were properly displaying. The closest I've gotten was to use analogue instead of VGA, then set the displays to clone - which for some reason caused the Samsung to realize it was 1680 x 1050. From there, I then set it as master, and went from 'clone' to 'extend', leaving both monitors at 1680x1050, then re-sized the acer. I had both running in the proper resolution, but for some reason it didn't stick when I restarted the computer - and that process is a pain to do every time!!!
I've found a couple of similar threads with problems but no concrete solutions. Any advice?
As an aside: Are all monitors this painful to work with? I've used this one on two different computers, plus an Acer P243w, and have often had to jump through all kinds of hoops to get stuff working right. Am I just cursed?
