CAN'T GET INTO BIOS

Have had trouble with CMOS checksum errors but cleared cmos and replaced battery and was ok. Keep getting CPU Fan error, but I can see it working so i don't understand that one.
But my newest problem is that when i hold down the del key to get into bios nothing happens the computer just checks the drives and then tells me there's an error with the fan (am i pressing teh wrong key?). I have tried with and without hard disks (this is an old hard disk from my last computer with XP still installed on it). If anyone has an ideas please post because I just can't figure it out.

First, you probably need to fix the fan. It is probably not providing the RPM signal to the mobo. If the mobo does not get a good RPM signal from the CPU fan, it won't boot.
