Can't get Game Theater XP drivers installed

Got a GTXP free from a friend who just upgraded. For the life of me, I cannot get this damn thing working! :| Fresh install of WinXP Pro SP2 on a Dell PE SC420. Downloaded the latest drivers from Hercules, and go thru the install wizard, which tells me the drivers are installed. But even after I boot, there's no driver loaded for "Crystal SoundFusion (tm) Audio Device"

Am I forgetting to hop on one leg in a circle while loading the driver or something?? 😕

Thanks for any help.

EDIT: It's working now!

ATOT-style cliffs:

1) Installed GTXP; drivers would not associate
2) Swapped slots, device no longer seen at all
3) Swapped back to old slot, device seen with Code 12 (insufficient resources)
4) Flashed SC420 BIOS to A01 for improved resource management
5) Card seen, drivers associated, software/control panel loaded; high pitched squeal only output
6) Swapped slots yet again
7) ??? (seriously, I have no idea what the proverbial "phase 2" was that made it all come together)
8) Profit! 😉

I gave up on my GTXP awhile ago, for this exact reason. I tried trouble shooting, it was a PITA. I can't remember any of the steps i went through, so here is a bump for someone who remembers how to resolve this.

When it tells that there is no driver installed for the fusion. Did you, or were you in Device manager and click on the exclamation point for the device problem. And, where it said update or install driver, update by browsing your C:Hercules/GTXP/driver/XP and locating it, to allow windows to install from there?

It's been a long time since I had that Herc kit.

Ha, good to see you ReMeDy.

Unfortunately all those basics have been tried already. The only .inf file installed as a result of the wizard "is not appropriate for this hardware". :| This is true for both v6.07 and 6.09 of the driver install.

I installed one in my P4 system (Abit IS7) and I can't get it to show up in Device Manager at all, let alone get the drivers installed.

Moved the card to a different slot, and now it doesn't appear to be seen at all just like MDE... wtf :| Upon moving it back to the orig slot, I'm now getting a Code 12 "not enough resources to run this device" error. WTF??

Well, I headed to Dell support and here's the description for the SC420 A01 BIOS update:
The following changes have been made to the A00 to create the A01:

1. Corrected SMBIOS reporting of high speed CPUs
2. Improved boot list management
3. Improved setup handling of 'ESC' key
4. Added a warning when changing the SATA controller mode
5. Corrected password entry on international keyboards
6. Corrected SMBIOS reporting of PCI-Express slots
7. Added support for newer CPUs
8. Improved USB hotplug detection
9. Clarified diskette drive failure message
10. Improved remote wake support
11. Added support for USB remote control devices that respond as keyboards
12. Improved PCI address space allocation
13. Added failure handling if installed video card incompatible with setup
14. Improved support for PCMCIA devices
15. Fixed a problem with very small hard drives (under 528MB) not working
16. Improved detection of PATA optical devices
17. Improved BIOS flash update support
18. Corrected parity errors in the simple boot flag byte
As I am running A00 right now, I'll be doing this update and seeing what happens.

Hah. It works. After flashing the BIOS, the drivers seemed to attach just fine, control panel is installed, etc. Resource management issue.

Now I just need to troubleshoot why I still have no damn sound... grr!!

Ok, now it really works. I was getting nothing but a high-pitched squeal until I moved the card back to the other slot yet again, manually installed the drivers (which STILL don't auto-associate to the device) and hopped counterclockwise while reciting the first verse of Stevie Wonder's "Knocks Me Off My Feet".

God, I don't miss the old pre-PnP days for a second!!
