Trying to install Flash player on IE6 on Win98SE. No matter if I lower all of the security settings or put adobe.com in the trusted zone, it still will not install. Same thing would happen with Shockwave player, but they had a downloadable installer for that. I uninsalled the last version of Flash I had, so now I am stuck without any Flash on here and some sites don't work. Please help.

Seems like there is a bunch of extra junk in there. Anyway I did try it, but I don't have enough free space on my C: drive :(
I don't know what it is but something is preventing it from installing.

You didn't happen to have installed SpywareBlaster and enabled the Flash-killer feature, did you?

I have spyware blaster, but I have checked it and all protection is disabled. I am going to try enabling protection and then disabling again. I plan to nuke this box soon anyway.

Nope that did not help.

Flash is a nusiance. The only way to change the settings for it is to use the "settings manager" on their webpage and it is unclear how the auto updating mechanism works. grr grr grr.

Weird, was having this same problem on a virtual machine at school this past weekend. I was trying to use the standard Flash download link on the homepage of adobe.com.

Yea I really don't like how they want you to install it from inside the browser, too many things to go wrong. Also I hate how the only way to access the settings panel is through a page on their site, I didn't even know it was there for a long time. They should take an example from the Sun Java package. It puts a nice icon in the control panel that controls everything and it has auto updating too.
