I first listened to Paul Oakenfold's Southern Sun on LP when I was on Ibiza this summer. The track made such an impact on me that it nearly moved me to tears. The beat, the vocals by Carla Werner, it's all just great. I have literally listened to this track every day since first hearing it back in early July. I play it several times a day and often while I'm driving. I can't believe I still can't get enough of it!

The remixes by DJ Tiesto (two of them), Gabriel & Dresden, and Solar Stone are all fantastic!

Piece by piece I release
Once was mine
Now undone
Turn blue like new orleans
And then down like a southern sun

I still feel you beneath my skin
I am tempted to throw my senses in
Cause its easier to fly
Than to face another night of southern sun
And your love is all around

Piece by piece I release
Once was mine
Now undone
Turn blue like new orleans
And then down like a southern sun

I still feel you
Beneath my skin
I am tempted to throw my senses in
Cause its easier to fly
Than to face another night of southern sun
And your love is all around
In the end to set me free

You lust like a song undeflated
I am pieces of the wind unrelated

I still feel you beneath my skin
I am tempted to throw my senses in
Cause its easier to fly
Than to face another night of southern sun
And your love is all around
In the end to set me free
Cause its easier to fly
In the end to set me free

Yeah. I'd be interested in what others think. Everyone I've recommended the song to loves it...and they end up playing it over and over again.

(This is primarily for people who like trance.)

Oh...yeah...scratch that. If not Ibiza, then I recommend the paradise Greek island of Naxos. Much better for married couples!

As soon as I read the first line I knew what song that was. I think it's okay but aves2k likes it more than I do. :)

Are you big into trance? Or, do you prefer things more on the House side? If you want something on the softer side, the Solar Stone remix is very relaxed compared to the others.

Eakers, I just bought the single. It has three tracks: Oakenfold's original version of Southern Sun, DJ Tiesto's remix, and Oakenfold's Ready, Steady, Go. Not bad for $5 at a music store in Stockholm, Sweden!

Nope, didn't listen to much Swedish techno. Sweden was my last stop in my tour of 8 countries in 6 weeks. I had spent so much time in music stores by that point, that I didn't want to spend too much more time in them.

House isn't too bad. Take Steve Lawler for example. But, I grew up listening to Vangelis, so I still lean towards the Trance side of things.

my current track o' obsession is DJ Sammy feat. Do - Heaven. Love it love it love it. Every remix imaginable. But I was unsatisfied with the Candlelight versions that I got on MP3 and I love the song so much I actually bought the CD from amazon. I can't wait for it to come in.

I'll have to check out this oakenfold song tomorrow. But I've got to go to bed now. I've got one of the CDs he mixed, and I like it a lot. Another track I've been listening to a lot lately is Robert Miles's "Children".

How funny, I am listening to it right now as I was reading thru AT threads.. some other songs you may want to check out are collaboration of Oakenfold and Jan Johnston. Good melody with great vocal by Jan Johnston, I am in love with her vocal. I can't believe I spent $40 on one her old import album, but well worth it though.

After three days of straight clubbing on Ibiza, I was a little clubbed-out after that. Besides, there aren't too many clubs that can top the likes of Space on a Sunday or Priviledge on a Monday. The clubs in Stockholm were a little wierd in that you had to be 23 or 27 to get into some of them. Also, we were told at one club that we were not dressed well enough in a nice shirt and slacks; we were told we had to wear a suit to get in. We of course didn't bring such formal clothes on a 6-week-long backpacking trip through Europe.

That is a good song....I like the hardcore dance/techno stuff better though...whatever that is called. Anyone want to recommend some songs like that?

Meh, I'd take that CMeth CD off your hands, but I don't have any CDs you'd want.

BTW, yes, this song rocks, I heard it as soon as it came out and bought the first CD I've ever bought in my life....Bunkka. Starry-Eyed Suprise owns, as does Southern Sun and Zoo York. :)

Still...Crystal Method's Tweekend is one of the best CDs ever made, with almost ever track being amazing...PHD, Wild Sweet and Cool, Name of the Game, etc...

im a huge trance head, but i think Southern SUn is tooooooooo mellow for me... Theres not enough of a hard beat for me to get into it... Ive listened to all 3 remixes.

Have any of you listened to the likes of Cosmic Gate? Their style rox for some reason...

Cosmic Gate - Back To Earth (S.H.O.K.K. Remix) is my current song on my playlist..

FOr house tho, i like the softer, deeper, groovy sides of things, like Deep Dish, Danny Tengales, etc....
