Can't get DVD to play

:brokenheart:I just got this new computer assembled with Windows XP, a Plextor PX-716A DVD burner, and a 19" Dell LCD Monitor. This first attempt to view the commercial video DVD failed--neither the Windows Media Player or the Roxio DVDMax Player would play the DVD. One of them had a message saying there was a "problem with the video subsystem", and recommended trying to reduce the number of colors or the resolution in the monitor. I played around doing both of these things w/o success. The Roxio player just said "Error code...object or name was not found". I'm wondering what I can try next? Thanks for any ideas.:cookie: Jason

Thanks, would you mind saying a little more to point me in the right direction? Where should I go to download the latest DVD codecs?
