edit: nevermind, i got it working again. It was something pretty weird.

My DVD rom drive was working fine until a couple days ago, just stopped working. I went into device manager and found it was disabled, and i couldn't enable it. I tried uninstalling, rebooting and installing it again but it didn't work. Here's a pic of what shows up in device manager: pic

Great! How about sharing what it was in case we ever run into it?

Well, I disabled a driver called "Tetris.sys", didn't know what the hell it was. Somehow that was related to my DVD drive working, since i had to enable it again. I still don't think i should need it *shrug* - Maybe i've been h4x3d!...Very unlikely though. I doubt anyone else will ever have the same prob but who knows.

Edit: Actually it's still not working and i can't get it to work. Windows detects it and says it's installed fine and everything but it's not showing up in the drive list, neither is my Daemon Tools virtual drive. DoubleEdit: Bah, now my DVD drive is working again for some reason. Daemon Tools still isn't working right, that will hopefully be easier to fix.

Sounds like Daemon tools might have something to do with it. I installed Nero 7 demo last week and found I didn't like it. When uninstalling it, it f*ed up my system, the dvd drive dissapeared and so did my virtual drives (I have Farstone GameDrive 10). I ended up reformatting after seeing something on the nero site which showed to use a program to fix the registry (um, didn't fix it, just BSOD on every boot).

I think both the DVD rom and D-tools is working now, though everytime windows boots up it tries to install my DVD rom drive again. That's how my Windows is though, never remembers anything. I have to install my controller drivers about every other time i plug them in 😛. I had to update the driver for the virtual drive manually by locating cdrom.inf, after that it worked. Anyhow, i guess it's sorta working for now. I don't know why any of that happened.
