I've had this game since launch. Until now, I have played it on my old P4 Windows XP system. Aside from it being one of the longest installs I've seen, I never had any problems with install.

Now I have a new build which includes E8500, 9800 GTX, 4GB DDR2 1066, EVGA 750i FTW motherboard, and Vista Ultimate 64. All games install and play great on this new comp, except for COD4. My disc is in excellent condition, yet I keep getting errors during install. I believe the error is 1305, can't remember exactly. It basically is have trouble finding certain files on the DVD.

I googled this, and found that a lot of people have had this problem. But, I didn't find a solution that helped me. I even tried copying the entire DVD to my hard drive and installing from there, but even that had trouble reading certain files. I even tried copying them one by one.

Anybody have a possible solution? Thanks.

Likely your CD ROM. I had this happen to me once when 4-5 games seemed to work ok but one wouldn't install. They encrypt every CD now to hell and gone so everything is so sensitive.

This is a reason why I backed up all my game cd's to hard drive and put them in a safe place. And another reason why I prefer Steam to retail...

Well, I got it to work. My disc appeared clean, but I cleaned it with Windex just in case. Now it installs just fine.

I already loved this game, but it is so much better on my new comp.
