cant get brink to open

so I bought brink and installed it and then opened steam (i just "finished" fall out new vegas so I already had steam) and then i get this fatal message...invalid operation-sdtexture:_vtdiffuse: generated with internal format 0x8xc4d but gl retunred 0x1....any ideas....I had to install opengl 3.1 to get the game to open but now it opens to a black screen and then I get this message...followed by a bunch of code...any way to open it or do I need to uninstall and reinstall...I have a 2 month old computer runing windows 7
