Cant get both the CD & CDRW Drives to show up on a new build???

Hi, Im working on a new build and I cant get it to recognize both the cd-rom drive and the cdrw-rom drive at the same time. I have never had this problem before, but Im sure it's just because it has SATA connections and it's my 1st install of a combo SATA hard drive and PATA rom drives, and I just have hit the right combo. However, I have tryed all the combo's (different jumper settings, cmos combo's I think are even possible but it wont pick them both up the way Im trying to set it up. Which shows like this:

The SATA Maxtor drive is my Prim IDE Master (which doesnt technically make sense due to the fact it is a SATA drive but it does work fine that way. I am using XP Pro btw.

The 2ndary Slave is setup on IDE2 and jumpered as that and it works fine.

Now the CD burner drive is jumpered and setup on the IDE 1 ribbon as the Primary slave, but it doesnt show up.

Neither drive is bad because in my testing I have had both drives show up but just not at the same time, and as I said I have tryed every combo I think possible.

The only thing I havent tryed is to put both rom drives on the IDE 2 channel, 1 Primary & 1 Slave, but I thought I read somewhere that you really dont want both CD drives on the same IDE cable if possible? (Even if that is the way I end up going Id like to know why it isnt picking them up the way I have them set. I see no reason why it isnt)

The Mobo is a MSI 865PE Neo 2. It has 2 SATA plug ins on the brd, an IDE1, IDE2 and floppy. In the bios setting you go into the Integrated Peripherals, On Chip IDE Config, and it's setup like this:

ATA Config = P-ATA + S=ATA
SATA Keep Enabled = Yes
PATA Keep Enabled = Yes
PATA Channel Selection = Both
Combined Mode Option = SATA 1st channell
SATA Ports Definition = PO - Master / P1 - Slave

-------------------------------------------------------------
So a recap>>>>

It does read the Maxtor as the Prim IDE Master but it IS a Maxtor SATA harddrive connected on SATA Plugin 1.

The Asus CDRW is on IDE 1, jumpered as the Prim Slave, but Does Not read it as such.

The Asus CD-rom drive is on IDE 2 jumpered as the 2ndary slave and it Does show up right.

So, any suggestions why both arent showing up? Anything wrong with putting both cd-drives on IDE 2?

Thanks a ton.

Try a different cable. Ensure cables are tightly attached. Make sure the jumpers are correct and in tight. The performance difference will be insignificant if both drives are on the same ribbon, unless one drive operates in PIO mode. So, feel free to give that a try as well.
