can't get bluetooth to function properly

QueBert

Lifer
I have a Logitech diNovo, on my box before I reinstalled XP, I had a little Bluetooth icon in my tray, also in explorer I had a "bluetooth places" After reinstalling XP, I installed the Setipoint drivers, and it said it detected a BT Stack in XP already (which it did the first time I installed it, way before my reinstall)

now my keyboard and mediapad work fine, but I can't sync my phone or use my BT headset because I don't see anywhere to access my Bluetooth properties. This is confusing the hell out of me. Anyone with a suggestion? thanks

Maybe your bluetooth uses the generic driver from XP. Did you pass the log test from microsoft? Is that mean you used the windows' or manufactory's recommended driver?

when you try to install Logitech's BT drivers and it detects a stack already you don't get a choice of which to use, it basically says "bluetooth stack already found, it will be used..." it's annoying. I don't know of any way to remove the default microsoft Bluetooth drivers.

Read this, follow the instructions, then install the Logitech stack:

I probably should have mentioned I googled and found that MS, in my devices there is nothing related to BT, I might try renaming the files and see if that helps though.

*EDIT*

I renaned the 2 inf files, uninstalled the setipoint drivers, rebooted, reinstalled and it's still coming up saying Logitech has detected a BT stack. There is definitely nothing in my devices, and as far as using the BT stack that comes with SP2, I don't have a clue how to get it.

I give up 🙂

I know you're frustrated, but don't give up so easily. There's always an answer.

First of all, let's go another route. I'm sure you really don't care who's bluetooth stack you have, so long as it works for ALL your devices, right? Ok. Then let's use the Microsoft Stack, since it's already there.

Make sure you rename those files back to their original names and reboot so you are good to go.

Now, read this MS Knowledge Base page. Particularly, read the paragraph that starts with:

"What can I do if a Bluetooth device is not detected when I add the device?"

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883258

Follow the instructions from there.

If still no help, start with the instructions at the top of the article and work your way down.

Problem with that is Slikkster, I don't have the "bluetooth USB" tab in my devices, and can't figure out how to get it working. Also from everything I've read the MS BT stack is lacking and doesn't support bluetooth heatsets.

I will go threw it one last time, and probably just end up removing SP2 and installing the logitech one and then reinstalling sp2. Sounds dumb, but that is what a lot of people seemingly have done to fix the same problem I'm having.

tried that link you sent me, that key they said to find and delete isn't even in my registery 🙁

when I tried reinstalling the Setipoint, it says "no bluetooth found"

ARGH I give up 🙂
