Can't get BF2 to even install now

So XP was installed utilizing VGA(converted DVI). Now when I hook up the lcd directly to DVI connection, I couldn't get BF2 to run, unstalled and reinstalled and same problem. Now after I formatted the drive used only for BF2, I can't even get it to install.

I have another pc with DVI and I tested it (converted VGA via DVI) does the same thing. So it seems it's a BF2 thing, so am I going to have reinstall windows to get BF2 to work with straight DVI?
 
Are you using a widescreen LCD? BF2 has some issues with widescreen resolutions and takes some workarounds to makeit work right.
 
Yes but I have not had the issue using vga adapter on my video card.

I finally got it installed by removing EA downloader then installing the game.

With my 2007FPW I can only get 1280x1024 res without doing the hack for 1680x1050 but I didn't get it to work when I did try.
