My setup:

Intel P4 1.8A
Asus P4B266-C
1 256 MB stick of Infineon PC2100

When I hit the power button, everything turns on the fans spin, etc, you can hear the HD spinning and what not, but I am not getting any video. It is usually just a 1/5 of a second flicker on the monitor, but that is it. I have tried 2 AGP cards so far and both yield almost the same result with the very quick flicker. I have tried clearing the CMOS, I have tried removing the battery, but neither of those appear to work. Anybody got any ideas?

What kind of video card, and what other cards/stuff do you have in your system?

Boilerplate-01:
. Most frequent causes of failure to boot:
1- RAM, CPU or AGP video card not seated properly, or a bent pin.
2- Drive data cable on upside down or only on half the pins or shifted . a pin or two (usu Floppy or Zip drives).
3- CMOS needs to be cleared (AC power must usually be disconnected or . attempt to clear CMOS may fail) Unless your mobo does not use a power-off CMOS clear - check your mobo manual for specific info.
.bh.
4- On many new mobos there is a CPU protection feature (esp. on Athlon/Socket A mobos) that will not allow the system to start if there is no fan (or a fan without a working speed sensor wire) connected to the fan power connector on the mobo (specifically marked "CPU Fan"). If you tried to start your machine without a fan properly connected, you have to attach a proper and working fan and clear the CMOS before it will boot.

Do you hear any beep codes? Try reseating the memory, or try other memory. Additionally, make it a basic system, which means disconnect the hard drive, floppy drive, and remove any cards from the slots other than the video card.

mechBgon - My main card is a GF2 Ultra 64MB of DDR. I also tried a generic 32mb AGP card also, but neither work. I just get a 1/5 of a second flicker on my screen when I start it up.

Zepper - I tried all the things you suggested, and the only thing I can think of after going through your list is a bent pin which I am not seeing, but still could be somewhere.

earthling - that is the weird thing. I hear no beeps. Even when the RAM is not installed and I know my PC speaker works cuz it came out of my system case that I was using just 2 weeks ago. I however, don't have any DDR to try so I don't know if it is the RAM. At the moment, it is just a basic system with the cpu, ram, and vid card.

To take what earthling said one step further, how about if you take the motherboard out of the case and try operating it on cardboard, just in case a screw got lodged under the board or something?

Also, you might try with no keyboard/mouse connected, and also try with the case speaker hooked up but no video card whatsoever, to see if you can get some beep codes out of it. Heck, keep taking stuff out (RAM, CPU itself) and see if you can provoke some beeps to assure that the board doesn't have a corrupt BIOS or something.

Do the video cards still function in other systems? Does the power supply power other systems ok, or can you try another power supply with this one? Hopefully the PSU has enough quality/capacity for the system?

mechBgon - at first I was operating it on the cardboard box that it came in, and now it is on the mobo tray out of the case on my wooden desk. I have no keyboard/mouse connected at the moment and have yet to have them connected. I'll take out the CPU and what not tommorrow when I am more awake. As far as the video cards go, both of them function properly as I have tested in other systems. I have tried 3 power supplys, an Enermax 350 Whisper, and 2 generic 300s and they all yield the same result. More or less, I think I should hit the For Sale forums to get another stick of DDR to try...

That, or pick up some Crucial, it's hitting some darn attractive prices right now! 512Mb PC2700 for $90 shipped at newegg.com. :) Good luck, I hope some different RAM is all it takes. :D

To make a long story short, the CPU wasn't even closed to being seated fully. Thank you everybody for your help and assistance.
