Cant get a solid calibration on steering wheel.

Ive instaleld a SB Live card. Now when I calibrate my steering wheel the little "+" is constantly jittering and my drivability in games is horrible. I have grabbed the latest drivers from Creative Labs. I have cleaned the pots on my old T2 wheel. I even bought a new steering wheel and had the exact same problem. any have some ideas I can try?

here is the system:
T-Bird 900 oc'd to 1022
350 Crucial ram
abit kt7a
SB Live value
W98
