can't get a program to install, please give advice

i used to live in japan, and have a japanese video game program i downloaded because i'm nostalgic for japanese stuff. so, it has an autoinstaller that comes with it, says from macrovision corp. i double click the installer icon, it asks me if i want to "run" or "cancel", i click run, and instead of the usual install menu with "next" and "install" coming up, i get a couple of seconds of an hour glass, then nothing else happens. anybody have any advice/ideas? is it something really simple i'm just too stupid to see?!?? thanks in advance!! 🙂
