Can't format to full capacity during XP install

I have a 300GB Maxtor SATA drive on my Epox 9NDA3J (NF3). It will shows in the bios as 300GB but Windows XP install CD only sees it as a 137GB. I have SP2 in a separate CD. Formatting the Drive with MaxBlast software did not help.

Is there a way I can get Windows XP to recognize the full 300 GB?

You need SP2 to see drives larger than 137GB.

Not sure, but I think SP1 would also fix this limitation.

Can you make multiple partitions and get to use the whole size of the drive?
You can make a smaller partition, and install the OS, but you'd still need to apply SP1 or SP2 afterwards to get the full size of the drive to be seen in Windows.

uh, you do not need sp2 for drives larger than 137gb....

EDIT: I did not see where you said you thought SP1 would fix the issue also. That is correct, SP1 will solve this issue also.
