Got it to boot but im on to a new problem now : /. When formating a partition for windows, the raptor will stop at 36% forever. Sometimes it will go further, othertimes it just sits there. It got to 99% and then decided to lock up again. Is this a problem with the dfi ultra d or is it the raptor?

Also, for you raptor owners, does your drive have a high pitch wine to it? My western digital 80 gb is dead silent, but with this raptor it gets pretty annoying.

No I am running two 74GB Raptors in my machine and I have never heard of any problems with the drives like that> I do have to say they are a little loud and annoying but I usually have only noticed that when I have the case open for some reason working on something as usual...lol

I help a friend trouble shoot his new computer build a couple of years ago and he was having the same exact problem. In his case it turned out to be a grounding problem, the mobo was ground out to the case.

I have been searching around for this "grounding" issue but I havent found anything. It doesnt really make sense how a mobo could be grounded to the case lol.

In my friends case, he had put an aftermarket CPU cooler on that required changing the backplate. He installed the backplate without the proper insulating gasket and the backplate was touching the back of the case.

I've also seen this if the mobo is installed without some or all of the standoffs, or if a standoff is screwed into the case in a place where it doesn't line up with a hole in the mobo. Many of the older mobo's required felt washers between the standoffs and the mobo, leaving one of these out also caused this problem.

Actually grounding problems are quite common, thats why many people recommend removing the mobo from the case and setting it up on a cardboard box when trouble shooting.
