Can't format HD on laptop

When I insert a boot disk with Format on it, I type Format C:, and at 1 percent it says, Not ready, format terminated. Scandisk in DOS/Windows doesn't work either, as after a certain, it just freezes. Any suggestions?

try to remove ALL the partions, after that try again to farmat the drive. if that does not help then you will have to lowlever format the drive. if the drive is still not working there may be something alse wrong with it. good luck, i hope this helps.

to low level the drive you will need a low level program. you want to use the one that was made for the type of hard drive that you have. but you can get a program what will work with most hard drives. you can go to windrivers.comto get one. if you cant find one get back to me with IM user name divide99 and i will give you the one that i have.
