I just installed winxp. and before I did that I copied all the important files from my c drive to another drive that had free space that I never used into a dir.

I just plugged in the harddrive and I can't see the directory /dom/ that I copied the entire contents of my old c:\ drive too. This is a nightmare.

The copy was originally done in command prompt in safe mode of win 2000 using this command:

xcopy c:\*.* /a /e /k d:\dom\

please any ideas.. I can see the drive has the files somewhere becuase the gb sized has changed

thank you

is this drive greater an 127GB? If so you may need to install SP1+, and/or appropriate drivers to access your D: drive successfully.

First of all, did you verify the files were copied before you did anything else? Why did you use the /a ? Were all of the files you wanted to save set as archieve? You say that you just plugged in the drive. Why did you disconnect it after the copy?
