Can't find 90% solution..............

I want to clean my processor with its stock intel cooler in order to replace a BT.......

But first I have to clean the processor.......
Can't find 90% alcohol in the drug store.........Can I used a 70% instead?????

Can it clean well???? or will it damage my Core 2 Duo processor????

Are you trying to set a record for questions asked? Well, at least this one isn't ignorant. I have always used 70% isopropyl, and have never had a problem. The higher the percentage, the less time it takes. I once had to use 50%, and that worked, also. It took much longer than 70%, but it still worked.

Any DRUG STORE should have it.

And 70% is just fine. 90% supposidly just leaves less residue which should decrease your temps. (going from 70%->90% won't make your temps go way down. If anything it'll drop by .0001 degree's C. 😛)

I would never use any but 99% - which I bought at Fry's - MG Chemicals 99.953% andhydrous alcohol
1 litre plastic bottle has lasted me forever

However, I no longer use thermal paste - I just machine lap the copper base of HS to about a 2 micro
But thats just crazy little ol' me
