Can't find 1394 in device manager - asrock p67 extreme4

Hello.

I have an Asrock P67 Extreme4 motherboard and I have 2 related problems.

I'm trying to use the firewire port to capture video from my camera (something I've done on my old pc so I know it works).

I'm running Windows 7.

1)

I can't get my computer to recognize the camera attached to the 1394 port. The 1394 port doesn't show up in device manager. I'm not sure if the 1394 port is working.

I checked the bios and 1394 is enabled. I tried bios versions 1.3 and 1.5 with the same results.

2)

I have a 1394 PCI card (it worked in my old pc) that I tried to install. After placing the card in the pci slot and rebooting, the computer hangs at the Asrock startup screen. Dr Debug shows code 92. When I remove the 1394 pci card the computer starts up normally.

If you can help me solve either problem 1 or 2, I can capture my video.

Thanks.

Go to Admin Tools, Computer Mgmt, and make sure that the 1394 port device is assigned a drive letter that is not in conflict. When you hot plug the 1394 device, it should signal with a chime that it is connected. It should show as a lettered drive.

For a camcorder, you should install the drivers and software that came with the camera.

Thanks for the replies.

I emailed Asrock.

They told me if I don't see the 1394 port in Device Manager there is probably something wrong with it and I should RMA it.

I'll just wait for the new shipment of P67 boards with the fixed Intel chipsets. Hopefully it won't be too long before they get here.
