Can't figure this out

I have an older system with a gf4 ti4600.
I put a system together for a friend with a athlon xp-m, an ecs motherboard, and gf 5700le.
I was having major problems with his video during games only (Windows was fine).
So I did some testing...
My old vid card works fine in his system, his new vid card works fine in my system.
So it doesn't seem to be anything wrong hardware wise. I have dx9 on both systems,
both systems have newest motherboard drivers (recommended VIA 4in1 drivers) and both
have newest Nvidia drivers from Nvidia's site.
Can anyone think of any reason as to why his vid card won't work with games on his system?
Thanks in advance!

What do you mean it wont work? Does it reboot the system, BSOD, artifacting, etc.?
If it is restarting, I would guess that the card is running too hot or a cheapo PSU. Does his case have good circulation? What type of PSU does he have?

By not working I mean with 3d games. Images are all garbled and messed up and performance is horrible.
Tried running 3dmark05 and had a score of like 300 or so. Powersupply came with case, Turbolink(?) 350w iirc. Case has fine circualtion, plenty of fans, single flow from front to back of case, etc.
As I stated, everything 2d such as Windows and stuff works fine...anything 3d is messed up. I can't recall the name of the psu on my system off hand, but I belive it is also a 350w and the card works fine there. BTW both mobo's are same company as well both using VIA chipsets. Sure hope I can figure this out.

Have you tried using the PSU fro nthe woring system in the other? Even if this does not solve the problem, it may narrow down the possibilites. There an be a huge difference between a quality PSU and a no-name brand one, even at the same wattage rating.

ok tried the psu from my system in his system, still get the same problems.
Is there perhaps something maybe wih the motherboard? Perhaps something that would cause and older video card to work fine but a new one to not work right?
