Cant Figure out this problem, FREEZING

800mhz amd thunderbird not oc'ed
msi pro2a
inno3d geforece2 mx
40gig quantum 7200rpm 100ata
sb live value
windows98SE
ide 4x8 matushita burner
32 mitsumi ide cdrom
256 cas3 toshiba 133mhz ram
4.25 via 4-in-1 drivers
300 watt ps

well, i formated my computer for the 3rd time this week!

first time it kept freezing with WIN millienum

2nd time it kept freezing after i installed 4.28 4-in1 drivers with win98SE

3rd time its starting to freeze after a clean format when...

it happens when i am copying large files from both of my cdroms at the same time. Sometimes my screen will just go black and freeze, other times i will get these wierd green lines on the top of my screen and it will freeze.

DMA is checked in system properties

please help

new update, just formated again, even freezes without any 4-in-1 drivers installed!

Are you CD Roms on the same channel. i.e. Both master and slave on say IDE 1 for example. If so, have you tried making them both slave, one on IDE 1 and the other on IDE 2.

I could say it's down to AMD's poor stability, but PCResources would get all wound up about it. :p

ever tried to install/setup OS with just the IDE CDROM and not the CDRW? put the HD on IDE channel 1 and CDROM on IDE channel 2.

Remove sound card and try system. IRQ problems with SB16 emulation will cause problems like this sometimes.
