Can't fast switch users in Windows XP home.

There are only two user accounts on my computer and all of a sudden we can't fast switch between accounts. When you start-log off-switch user and you go to the welcome screen and click on the other account, all that happens is a screen flash and you are back to the welcome screen. The only way to switch to a different user is to actually log off.

I changed the settings in control panel - user- use fast swiching back and forth in both accounts (both have administrator rights and no passwords) and nothing happens. Is there another way or place to revise this.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.......

did you change the log on to classic log on?

No it is the xp standard welcome screen. Also I didn't change anything, it just stopped doing fast switch. This was my spare computer and only had one user for about a year. My main computer mobo died and I set up my wife on the spare also. Worked fine for 2 weeks then a few days ago my wife tried to switch and only the screen would flash when you would click on the user/

can't figure what would do it.....

Start->Run->services.msc

I am experiencing this same problem of the Switch User function not working. If the original user doesn't log off the next user only gets a brief flash of the original user's wallpaper and then back to the welcome screen. This problem started happening after I installed some keyboard/mouse software. But uninstalling the software didn't fix the problem. I haven't checked the service but will do that when I get home.
