drinking definitely messes with my sleep. even a single beer will make it harder for me to fall asleep at night, and generally i have no problems (when not drinking)

Wow interesting that a lot of people experience that. I guess it comes as a surprise to me because I never actually knew anyone in real life that can't sleep after having a few drinks.

Maybe she isn't crazy after all ;)

I have the same problem, it is actually high levels of histamine in beer and wine, especially wine. Alcohol has a duel effect of disabling the enzyme in the stomach that breaks down histamine, and if you eat a meal high in histamine like beer and pizza, it can actually make me pretty sick.

Histamine is partly responsibly for nighttime wakefulness, just the same as an anti-histamine like benedryl makes you drowsy. She should stick to vodka and try not to eat too much when drinking, mostly breads and fatty food, but definitely not cheese or meat. If I follow this when I drink I feel 100x better.

Incase you missed it, vodka is amazing, make your gf some screwdrivers or whatever mixed drinks and see if it is better.

When I get drunk I generally sleep like shit... actually, I sleep like shit if I have more than 2-3 drinks with about two hours or so of going to bed. I have the same issue as some others here: I fall asleep quickly and easily, but my quality of sleep over the whole night is horrendous.

Seems like the likely candidate is histamines to me.

I always sleep well regardless of alcohol intake (hangovers and head pain excepted).

Alcohol also makes me super tired once the buzz wears off.
