Cant even connect directly to cable.

Hi all,

Friend just called me. He had to make a quick exit from his house to his parents. (divorce sucks) They have no wireless stuff. His laptop has always run wirelessly from his router.

When he plugs in directly at his parents house to cable he is not getting online.

I have had him disable and enable all the stuff in device manager.
I have had him power down the router a number of times.

I am lost.
