I'm using an Asus A7M-266 with the Via "3-in-1" drivers. (This motherboard doesn't use the AGP controller of Via). Anyway, I'm not sure if that's the source of the problem, but my Plextor CD burner seems to be locked in PIO mode. In the device manager, for secondary IDE devices, I have it set as the master with "DMA if available." But it only runs in PIO.

My secondary slave, a Pioneer 16x DVD drive, runs in DMA mode... but the Plextor doesn't. My two primary IDE devices, two IBM 60GXPS, run in Ultra DMA mode. Just not the Plextor drive. How can I fix this? Burns are pathetically slow like this.

Specs:
Win XP PRO
1.33 ghz T-Bird
Visontek Geforce 3
Sound Blaster Live X-Gamer
Two IBM 60GXPs in Primary master and slave mode
Pioneer 16x DVD in Secondary slave
Plextor 24x10x40 in Secondary master

couple of things come to mind...

1st check the bios to make sure its set for UDMA mode...?

2nd put the DVD drive as a slave on the primary and the Plextor as the slave on the secondary...
