Can't disable ACPI?

CalebTG

Senior member
I just got a KT7-Raid w/ a Duron 600 and the bios does not even list the option to enable/disable ACPI. I see where it is available in the manual, but the whole first line involving ACPI is gone, it starts with the "Power Management"

board came with latest UL bios

I'm using win2000 pro w/ sp1, and changing "Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) Machine" to standard machine does not allow the option to auto-shut down the computer (yes i know how to do it, but it doesnt work when switching from acpi to standard, only when standard is installed by default)

any suggestions?

How can I disable ACPI?
BIOS versions TL and UL do not support the disabling of ACPI. Hopefully this feature will appear in a later BIOS version.

Under Windows 2000 you can disable ACPI from within Windows as follows:

Go to Device Manager and select Computer -> Properties of ACPI PC
Click the driver Tab and choose Update Driver
When the wizard gets to the "What do you want the wizard to do?" page select "Display a list of the known drivers..."
Then "Show all hardware of this device class"
Then select "Standard PC"
Reboot the machine
When Windows 2000 restarts it'll redetect most of the hardware in your machine again and reassign IRQ's to them, turning off ACPI.
Note: If you installed Windows with ACPI enabled in the BIOS, and then you disable ACPI using the BIOS, you may need to do a fresh install of Windows!
