Can't detect XP 2100+ properly with Epox 8k7a+

My friend is having this problem:

At the booting screen, the CPU is detected as "unknown type (1.733 GHz, 133 x 13, 266FSB)". The CPU is OEM. And it is actually XP 2100+. The problem now is that I can't get into Window XP (but I can see the Window XP loading screen). And also the computer can boot, sometimes. The BIOS already flashed such that it can use XP2100+ (absolutely sure about this). So what can be the problem?????

specs:
Athlon XP 2100+ (OEM) with volcano HSF
Epox 8k7a+ (BIOS 5/29/02) - load optimized default
1 x PC2100 512MB
Soundblaster Audigy Gamer
Geforce 3 Ti 500
Maxtor 30G HDD

Thanks for your time.

That BIOS version the the most updated available in Epox.com homepage. Besides, according to the manual, 5/29/02 version can support XP processor.

So what's the problem?

The XP2100+ actually runs @ 1.733 so it is being detected properly, just not by name.

If the unit is running fine, fegedaboudid!

The unit doesn't run, that's the problem. And since the CPU doesn't show up Athlon XP, I suspect the motherboard bios setting problem. That's my suggestion, but I hope someone around here may know what is the real cause.

How to have BIOS identify Athlon XP correctly instead of Athlon MP.
Enter the BIOS/CMOS and go into the Advanced BIOS features. Set the MP capable bit identify to DISABLE. Save and exit the BIOS.
