I don't know what I should get out of these cards (yes they are all prolly value cards now but I just need something until I get my GF4 4600 or Radeon 9700).

Evil Kyro 64 MB ( I heard it's the Kyro 2 but I'm skeptical.)
Kyro 2
Radeon LE/VE ( I know the LE is better than the VE but the VE is prolly more in my range)
GF2MX 200/400 (Same issues as the LE/VE)

Any comments are appreciated.

what card do u have right now?

just wait 1 more month, price will drop nicely.
but if you MUST get a card now geforce4 4200 are best value i think.

otherwise those Geforce3 ti200 can be had for cheap :D

Right now I have a 16 Meg eVGA Vanta

Yea, I thought about the Rad LE but if I save that much money I may as well keep going and get the GF4 4200 :D

;) Also depends what CPU you are running but you'd be mad to go for anything lower than Rad9000, GF2TI or GF4MX. Much better buys are the Rad8500 (esp Rad8500LE-128MB) and GF4TI4200 (nearly all o/c easily to at least TI4400 speeds). Out of the cards you suggest I'd seriously avoid Kyro and KyroII leaving the depressing choice of GF2MX400 vs RadLE/VE. I'd say RadLE esp if you mod it slightly which is easy and hassle free to do. Here's some info/bms.

Out of those cards, I'd take the Radeon LE. However, I wouldn't limit myself to those, for a few more dollars you can get a much better card.

What timeframe are you looking to get a GF4 or Radeon 9700? I would just wait. In a month or two, current prices are all going to drop b/c of the holiday season and the introduction of new competition (9700 and 9500/pro). If you buy a stop-gap card now, factoring in the price drops in the near-future, you may as well just buy a GF4 now. Say you spend $80 on a card now, planning to buy a 9700 or GF4 ti4600 in 2 months. Well by then those cards can probably be had for ~$200 US, so you just spent $280 for 2 cards when you coulda just picked it up for its cost now.....~250.

I just picked up an Albatron Ti4200 Turbo for $185. It clocks to ti4600 speeds easily and has 128 MB of 3.3ns BGA Ram. Price is between a Ti4200 64MB card and a Ti4400 128 MB and performs like a ti4600. I tend not to buy the bleeding edge video cards as they don't improve performance too much in existing games until about 6 mos. after their initial release.

Just my 2 cents,

Chiz

depressing price drops....i hate price drops, always something better for the same money in 6 weeks or so

how much cash you got now, what are you wanting to do, whats the rest of your system, and how patient can you be?
