Can't decide on case or CPU cooler...

Hi all,

I've decided on everything in my new build except the case and the CPU cooler.

What I have chosen is: E6600; P5B Deluxe; 2 GB Corsair DDR2800cl4; Seagate 320GB 7200.10; X1950Pro; Lite-On DVDRW drive; Enermax Liberty 620W.

My current choice for a case is the Gigabyte Aurora 3D - http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/other/display/gig-3d-aurora_2.html and the Scythe NinjaPlus for the CPU cooler. My problem is I don't know whether the Scythe NinjaPlus or Infinity is better. They are basically the same price which doesn't exactly help me decide either. Silent PC Review says the Ninja is better with the stock fan so that's why I have gone with that at the moment.

I am planning to overclock so I would like a decent cooler but would something like the Arctic Freezer Pro 7 be good enough? I suppose it depends on how far I want to overclock but if someone could say which cooler would be more appropriate for different degrees of overclocking that would be great (or recommend a different cooler altogether).

My problem with the case is that I like the look of doorless cases better but I can't find one which I like the look of and is practical. My favourite case design I've seen so far is the NZXT Adamas but it apparently is noisy and is also a bit small (especially for a Ninja or Infinity I would think). If people could recommend a doorless case of a similar design which is more like the size of the Aurora 3D (205mm x 510mm x 430mm (W x H x D)) that would be awesome. I have looked around the net for quite a while now but haven't found anything I really like.

Cheers

Yeah I've had a look at that one but I'm not sure I like the vent in the side. I might have found a case I like actually. It does have a door and it does cost about double the gigabyte but it looks so damn good and is nice and big. The Lian-Li PC-A10B. Only problem is the price and that it has space for two PSUs but if there is a cover for one of the holes then that's no problem.

EDIT: It does have a cover for one of the PSU holes so that's one problem gone.

It wont meet your expectations... but how about Antec Nine Hundered... seems like a good built and well designed case

Why won't it meet my expectations? And I have looked at the Antec Nine Hundred but I like the anodized aluminium look better than the mesh on the Antec.

Have you looked at the Lian Li G70?

Yeah I've looked at the G70. Its cheaper than the A10 but I like the look of the A10 far more.

Vent in the side?, you must be looking at the new model, the TJ06 has the upside down mobo and 2 separate compartments and well, looks good

These are both excellent cases. The auroa attracts more people who are interested in h2o cooling thanks to its dual 120x2 fans in the rear. Easy to mount a 120x2 radiator.

The Gigabyte honestly looks like crap tho in RL. It looks kinda bling in all the pictures but when you get it, it looks fugly.

The TJ06 is also a awesome case. Its priced at a nice value and has lots of room. I was actually debating on this case as well b4 i ended up getting a stacker.

CM Stacker: Ahhhhhhhh my third favorate case due to its layout and how its built. You really should concider this case because it has tons of room for upgrades and also has 2 versions. 1 which has a 120x2 fan in the rear, or 1 that can sport 2 PSU's, one on ground the other on top.

TT Armor: Hands down my second favorate large case. Reason i like this case more then the stacker is the interior layouts are more mod friendly. I like the rear hd cage and the side doors/gaurds really work. They dont get in your way all the time either like normal doors do. Best statement to ask is, ask any armor owner if they hate there case, there isnt much to hate about it besides its riced out blue front fan which u can easily change.

TJ-07, MM UFO, LL V2000 <--- unless u have a conciderable budget to get these, dont bother looking at them. But they are all absolutely gorgeous.

Well the MM is ... ummm... well... to make it brief... HUGH, BOXY, and umm UGLY... but a lot of poeple love it... and i would personally want one, but i would probably hide it somewhere it in the corner. :X

My bad I read your post as TJ09 which does have the vent. The TJ06 does look good, you're right. And its half the price of the PC-A10. But after reading some reviews I'm not sure I like it all that much. The two cases I'm trying to decide between (I think) are both Lian Li. The PC-A10 - http://www.lian-li.com/Product/Chassis/...ower/Classical_Series/M_C_S_PC-A10.htm and the PC-V200plusII - http://www.lian-li.com/Product/Chassis/...ower/V_Series/S_V_S_PC-V2000plus_2.htm both in black. I like the look of both (the wheels on the v2000 are slightly odd but oh well) and they are a similar price so which one should I pick? Anyone's opinion is welcome.
