Cant Decide between iMac or Macbook

I'm a college student that is about to graduate and my main portable is starting to become my iPad (which I'm surprisingly happy with). Thing is I want to jump all into Mac. I want all my computing to be done on the Mac OS X I just cant decide what is the best avenue to do that with.

Only two concerns of what I'll be missing is:

1. Gaming (which I plan to alleviate with the purchase of an xbox)

2. Putting live streaming content of events that I watch on my computer to a large TV. I would stick my laptop on a big HDTV and stream content. I'm going to miss not being able to have those events.

Just any thoughts that you may have would help me make my decision. I feel like my money goes further with the iMac.

I cam into here to say get an iMac+iPad, but it looks like you already have the iPad haha.

I say get the iMac, as I believe you can stream from a mac to an Xbox. In addition, isn't ESPN coming out with some sports streaming service for the xbox?

I was in your shoes a couple of years ago, and I got a macbook pro. While I love it, if I was in the same situation again, I would definitely get an iPad+iMac. If you don't need a laptop for your job, I think an iPad will cover your 'portability' needs.

What wart said. I just replaced my MacBook with an iPad and love it. I will get an iMac next. Stream media to the console for tv viewing. Plus you'll get more computing power for when you need to do some "real" work.

Its awesome you guys are able to offer perspective in a situation that I was in. I'm pretty decided on iMac now then. I guess my only question is if there is a product or way to send a ustream or justin.tv stream to my tv wirelessly. I would usually do this with my macbook and hdmi adapter but I want to go with the iMac.

hmm, I have never tried this and some quick googling doesn't yield anything for me.

I know Connect 360 allows you to stream videos and music to your Xbox for $30, but I don't know if that supports justin.tv or ustream.

Yeah its not really going to be content that will rest on the iMac's hard drive. Maybe the newest rendition of Apple TV will have a solution for me or Google TV.

Not sure how good the 360 is at browsing but I can view ustream with my PS3, might wanna check it out.

Twonkymedia Server might have this functionality. You can have it stream youtube clips.

PS. Rivet is much better than Connect360 for streaming from Macs.
