Can't decide between GTX 750 Ti and HD 7870

I have these cards in my possession:

- EVGA GTX 750 Ti FTW ACX -- note that unlike other 750 Ti's, this one requires a 1 x 6-pin PCI-E cable. Fortunately, the load is only +10w more (for around 70w total?), so you could even get away with using a single 1 x Molex -> 6-pin PCI-E!

and

- Asus Radeon HD 7870 GHz DCII -- uses 2 x 6-pin PCI-E, but it's not a power hog like heftier 2 x 6-pin cards such as a 7950/7970

Goal is to use it for 4K output, maybe some slight gaming (CS:GO or D3:RoS, but on low settings, hahaha!). But power savings is also a priority...

If power is your main issue then get the 750ti. The 7870 should offer more FPS in games but the power efficiency is more in favor of the 750ti.

So gaming go 7870, power efficiency get 750ti.

Me id rather have 10+ frames in my games than a couple of bucks in my pocket at the end of the year.

If it were between the 750ti and 260x/265 then yeah the geforce would be great, but the 7870 is in another tier.

The 7870 is better for gaming. The 750ti is amazingly power efficient and also has a really good video decoder.

The games you listed seem to be old enough such that they would play fine on either.

4K resolution means 2GB is going to seem a little low real soon now, if it doesn't already.

Why is power savings a priority? If you're looking to save money and don't need the performance of a 7870, then buy a 260X. It costs less than the 750 Ti but performs the same. The 750Ti consumes about 30W less on average, which translates to about $5 per year at $0.15/kW and 4h per day. If you run the PC 24/7 and have more expensive than average electricity, then the 750 Ti will be the better option (i.e. once you start approaching $10-15 per year savings)

4K resolution means 2GB is going to seem a little low real soon now, if it doesn't already.

He said 4K output, not 4K gaming.
