Can't copy to floppy - XP problem?

Hey, got a new problem today. I was trying to copy a file to my floppy, and it says it is write protected and will not let me copy any file to it. I can copy to any other drive (c, zip, cdrw) but not to the floppy. My disk (I have tried a few) is fine. I am using the 920 bios. Here are my specs:

Windows XP
ECS k7s5a, 1.4 T-bird
Maxtor 40 gb hd
Maxtor ultra ATA 100 PCI Card
cdrw
50x cd
zip
floppy
Radeon LE
512 mb crucial ddr

You are allowed only a certain number of files in a floppy disk root directory. Once you reach that limit even if there is still a lot of free space you cannot save another file to that disk. Create sub folders and save all your files in them with no limit until the disk is full.

one moment I can do what I need to on a floppy (delete, copy to) the next moment it tells me the disk is write protected and I cannot delete or save anything to it. Really wiered...
