I got some dvd's from a friend of mine that he made of our bb team. I try copying them from disk to disk. That doesn't work. I try using roxio classic and put certain files in. I have tried nero and no luck. What is the problem. I can't get dvd decrypter to work on it or even dvd shrink. When I explore it there are
BUP
IFO
MPEG files. I don't know why they won't copy directly but they don't. They do copy from disk to disk but they won't play when I am done. They won't play in the burner that created them unless I go in and just open up directly from the dvd and hit each file directly and no dvd player will play them. What am I doing wrong?

a DVD should have BUP, IFO, and VOB files, not MPEG files. Something's the matter with your DVD's formatting, someone made it in such a way that it's not really a compliant DVD. If your friend's disc plays on a standalone DVD player, it probably is a player that can play raw MPEG files, but it's not playing DVD-video.

IF and I mean IF the MPEG files are MPEG-2 and not MPEG-1, you could load them into a DVD-authoring progam and generate a compliant DVD. I use TMP DVD Author, but there are lots of programs that will do this. If you're not sure, try loading them anyway; TMP will tell you if your file is not a compliant MPEG-2, and won't create a DVD with them without warning you about it.

good luck
