Can't connect to the net

I just reinstalled Windows XP, and can't connect to the net, it doesn't even detect the connection, I'm not sure how to set it up, i tried using the Windows Net Setup Wizard...thingy, but it still doesn't detect anything. Problaby a simple answer i'm sure, can anyone help out?

What i need to do it connect to another computer which is connecting to the net...if that makes any sense, i'm going through a router, from a different room, using Cox cable internet, what do i have to do? Thanks
