Can't Connect to the Internet

I just purchased a new PC. Running XP Pro. Comcast Cable.
I also bought a new SMC Barricade 7004VBR. All set up, but the new PC has no connection. Strange, because the other PC plugged into the router does have a connection.
The error message I'm receiving when I try and run the installation CD is:
"Adapter gateway IP address does not match Wireless Router IP address. Please reset for 30 seconds and run Setup wizard again."
Also, don't know if it relates, but when I go into Device Manager, under Other Devices a yellow exclamation appears next to: Ethernet Controller, Multimedia Audio Controller, PCI Simple Communications Controller, SM Bus Controller, and USB Controller.
Any ideas? Thank you.

im betting you have a conflict with your ethernet card
i recommend using the remove hardware and then reinstalling it
the turn off both the router and cable modem and then turn them back on
hopefully when u reinstall the card, u wont have a conflict but if you do (still have the?) then this will need to be addressed.

Was this new PC a pre-built or a custom built? From what you've listed as having yellow exclamation marks they all appear to be related to the motherboard chipset. I'd check the drivers for your motherboard chipset to make sure it's installed properly.

if you bought this box new and the devices werent even installed i would take it back at minimum any manufacturer should ship a box fully configured that is strange indeed

Your ethernet controller, sound card, internal modem, chipset & usb is not installed.

Reinstall the ethernet controller and your network should work.
See if you got any discs with computer to reinstall the drivers.

Some additional info might help. The machine is a new Dell Dimension 4600. Of course, it came preconfigured and set up, Dell's way, with XP Home. The first thing I did was format the disk and install my (legitimate) copy of XP Pro. I prefer this OS, and I wanted all the nonsensical crap that Dell throws in off of my PC. Turns out that much of the drivers are not installed in the process. So far, I have installed the video, sound card, and network card drivers. That last driver install removed the Ethernet Controller listing from the Other Devices list of items with the yellow exclamation point.
In so doing, I also got back my internet connection. Temporarily, that is, until I started to play with the router. I'm sure that's just a configuration thing, though, and I'll get to that soon enough.
In the meantime, which drivers are needed for the three remaining devices with an exclamation point: PCI Simple Communications Controller, SM Bus Controller, and USB Controller?

Since your on highspeed cable you dont need the PCI Simple Communications Controller driver (thats just a modem).
And we wouldn't know what driver is needed without knowing the modem name.

However you can pull all that information up on Dells website. Including all drivers.
You just need the TAG # off your computer to pull up specific drivers.

For the other things you just need the motherboard chipset driver.

Just go here Dell Drivers
