Can't connect to router

Hi, I was attempting to get a router to router connection working so that i could increase the amount of Ethernet ports I have access too. However, after i started messing with DHCP/WAN/IP settings on the router, I stupidly restarted the computer without finalizing settings.

Now I can't connect to my router. It says there's a wire, but it refuses to get an Ip. Windows Network Recovery hasn't been able to fix anything. I also have tried resetting the router, but that hasn't worked.

The normal way of accessing the router through the ip isn't working, and i've been randomly typing in ip's that show up in ipconfig to no avail.

This is what currently shows up on ipconfig

No DNS Suffix
ipv4 address: 169.254.100.31
subnet mask: 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway- 0.0.0.0

How do I fix this?

Thanks in advance

Yes. I've tried holding down the reset button until all the lights flash, I've tried cycling power, I've tried turning it on with with reset button depressed. Nothing has worked

Try first to issue ipconfig /flushdns reboot the computer and try again.

Or if you know what the default IP of the Router after reset should be, configure your computer to a static IP of the same subnet and try again.

You may want to expand on what you are trying to accomplish and what specific equipment you have. Normally you wouldn't use two routers to expand the number of LAN ports. Home-type routers CAN be used for this purpose, but it takes a non-standard setup.

Judging from what you said in your first post, you'd normally use an inexpensive "switch" to add ports to a router. It's less work and cheaper.

Once, I bought a used WR850Gv2 (Motorola) router, Broadcom hardware platform, from someone. Before I plugged it in to test it, I did a hard reset. After that, I could never get it to assign an IP to a hardwired LAN connection, nor could I get it to respond to HTTP requests, no matter what IP I assigned my PC's LAN card.

In short, it was dead, or so it seemed.

I was attempting to connect my wired router into my wireless router through the LAN ports so that I could use the wired router as extra LAN ports, as there aren't enough WAN lines to connect 2 separate routers simultaneously.

Okay then. Update on the situation. If I connect the Lan ports of the routers together, and then connect to my wired router, I can infact access the setup page of the wireless router but I do not get internet. If I try to access my wired router, I get a message that my computer is currently managing the device. Interesting

Did you change the core ip of the second Router to match the subnet of the first one?
